India will be taking on Australia in the third Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series at the Gabba in Brisbane from December 14 onwards. With the series level at 1-1, both India and Australia will be looking to deliver a stellar performance in the third Test, to take a massive step towards securing a series win, especially for the hosts, who haven’t done it in the last decade or so.
The last time India played a Test match at the Gabba in Brisbane, they made history by becoming the first away team to beat Australia in a contest in 32 years. After barely able to put a team together due to injury and other reasons, India were a massive underdog going into the BGT Test nearly four years ago, but with some sensational performances from the likes of Rishabh Pant, Cheteshwar Pujara, Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, and Mohammed Siraj, they registered a famous victory over Australia.
Over the years, Australia have been a dominant force in Test cricket at the Gabba, allowing India to beat them in Brisbane only once since 1947. But, earlier this year, West Indies shocked the cricketing world by getting the better of Australia at this venue in a day-night Test match, which will give more than just a hope for India to replicate their performance from 2021 against the hosts.
