Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee said that the Indian team knows how to beat any team in the world and cautioned his side ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Not only this, but he also said that while the side needs to find a balance, they know how to win. Lee reflected upon India’s defeat against New Zealand and said that the Rohit Sharma-led side played some loose shots. Notably, the two-time WTC Finalists lost their first Test game to New Zealand at home after 36 years.

The side came up with a below-par performance with the bat and were able to record only 46 runs in the first innings under the overcast conditions at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. The hosts are now set to lock horns against their Kiwi rivals in the second Test from Thursday, October 24 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. However, despite India’s defeat, the former Australian spinner cautioned his side and said that India don’t know how to bow down.

India is a powerhouse that don’t want to bow down: Brett Lee

Lee appeared on Fox Cricket’s The Follow-On podcast, where he said, "This day and age, India is a powerhouse that don’t want to bow down … they know how to win, and they know they can beat Australia, they know they can beat the Kiwis. They know they can beat anyone on any given day.”

He added, "But you’ve got to weigh up the risk factor as well. There’s times where you’ve got to go, ‘Okay well maybe the big shots aren’t working today’. Maybe just rein it in a little bit. I don’t think they sort of summed up the conditions as quickly as what they should have done." India currently trail New Zealand 0-1 in the three-match series.
