India recorded their second win in the Women's Asian Champions Trophy as they took down Korea 3-2 on Tuesday, November 12. The Women in Blue could extend their win streak owing to a 57th minute penalty at the Rajgir Sports Complex in Bihar. India recorded an early 2-0 win over their counterparts in the first half, through goals from Sangita Kumari and Deepika in the 3rd and 20th minutes, respectively.
The guests then made a stronger comeback in the third quarter, and levelled the game with goals from Yuri Lee and skipper Eunbi Cheon in the 34th and the 38th minutes. However, the tide of the game changed when Deepika converted a penalty in the 57th minute to help India record a close win. Earlier in the tournament opener, the hosts had taken down Malaysia 4-0 and are set to play Thailand in their next game of the tournament.
Thailand hold Japan to 1-1 draw; China take down Malaysia
In other games of the tournament, Thailand made a remarkable comeback and held Japan to a 1-1 comeback. In their opening game of the tournament, Thailand were thrashed by China. Notably, since 2013, both the teams have faced each other five times, which includes the recent clash in the ongoing tournament, and this was the first time that Thailand were able to earn a point.
On the other hand, China struggled to dominate against Malaysia but eventually recorded a 5-0 win over their rivals. They opened the scoring through Anhui Yu in the 12th minute, and their second goal came through Jinzhuang Tan in the 41st minute. In the final quarter, the world No. 6 team scored three goals, which came through Lihang Wang in the 49th minute and Tan as well as Guoting Hao in the 55th and 57th minute, respectively.
