India continued their dominance in home Tests after they registered a convincing 7-wicket win in the second Test at the Green Park in Kanpur on Tuesday, October 1, to clinch the two-match Test series by 2-0. Despite no play taking place for more than two days in the Test match, India defeated Bangladesh in the second session of day five. Chasing the target of 95 runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal top scored with 51(45) runs, as India got past the finishing line in 17.2 overs losing three wickets. With this, India also made their chances stronger to qualify for the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final.

After posting 285/9 in the first innings, India bowled Bangladesh out for 146 runs in the second innings. Shadman Islam was the top scorer for the visitors with 50 runs off 101 balls, hitting 10 fours. Apart from that, Mushfiqur Rahim also played a knock of 37(63) runs with seven boundaries. For India Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja took 3-3 wickets each, while Akash Deep put one in his bag.

Coming to chase the winning total, India lost their first wicket in the form of skipper Rohit Sharma (8 off 7) at the score of 18 runs in 2.1 overs. A couple of overs later, Shubman Gill also lost his wicket after scoring six runs. After that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli took charge of the innings, and added 58 runs for the third wicket. Jaiswal, who scored 72 runs in the first innings, went on to score another fifty, and got out after scoring 51 runs off 45 balls with eight fours and a six, while Kohli remained unbeaten on 29(37) runs with four boundaries.

Rishabh Pant took India down the line with the boundary as hosts won the series by 2-0. Yashasvi Jaiswal was awarded player of the match for his scores of 72 and 51 in the Test match respectively. On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin was adjudged player of the series scoring 114 runs with the bat, and taking 11 wickets with the ball in two matches.
