India will be bidding to the host the Youth Olympics in 2030, to strengthen their ambition to  bring the 2036 Olympic Games to the country. While addressing the 44th Olympic Council of Asia General Assembly in New Delhi on Sunday, September 8, India’s sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya revealed that India are set to bid for the fifth edition of the Youth Olympic Games in 2030, while reiterating that India’s main focus is on hosting the 2036 Olympics.  

Mansukh Mandaviya also spoke about the Indian government increasing the sports budget from  $143 million in 2014 to $470 million approximately at present. This budget helped the Indian athletes to perform well in international events in the last few years. India bagged 107 medals in the Asian Games and 111 medals in the Para Asian Games last year.  Now, India are also aiming to host the 2030 Youth Olympics.

"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi we are going to bid for the 2030 Youth Olympics but our focus remain on hosting the 2036 Olympics," Mansukh Mandaviya was quoted as saying by The Hindu. 

We have been able to host multiple international sporting events: JP Nadda

On the occasion, India's Union Health Minister J P Nadda also said that the current government has invested heavily in the growth of sports in the country and India have been able to host multiple international sports events throughout the years. He said that the decision to bid for the 2030 Youth Olympics will be monumental to shape the future of young Asian athletes. 

"Under Modi Ji's leadership we have been able to host multiple international sporting events, including cricket World Cups, football U-17 World Cup," JP Nadda said. 

India are in a race to bid for the Olympic games in 2036. Before that, they will be bidding for the Youth Olympics in 2030 which will be monumental in India’s vision to host the mega event in 2036. India will bid against Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Thailand, Mongolia, Russia, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina to get hosting right for the 2030 Youth Olympics.
