When the captain of India, Rohit Sharma walked out to the middle to take part in toss proceedings at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati for the warm-up match against England, he wore the Men in Blue jersey in the ODI World Cup 2023 for the first time, on September 30, Saturday. But, in a big surprise, the jersey of the Indian cricket team didn’t have the saffron, white, and green coloured stripes, to pay homage to the national flag, which Adidas had promoted earlier, instead, it had the traditional three white stripes associated with the apparel company.
Now the question arises, why are the flag colours of India not present on the stripes of the ODI World Cup 2023 jersey? There is no definitive answer to the aforementioned facts, for anyone to confirm whether the Indian jersey with flag colours from Adidas is going to be used for the round robin stage of the tournament, or if it's just a conceptual jersey from the apparel company promoted earlier, to sell to the fans.
But, still, there are two stars embroidered above the BCCI logo in the ODI World Cup 2023 jersey which Rohit Sharma wore during the India versus England warm-up match, which is similar to the promotional jersey from Adidas for the quadrennial spectacle. These two stars are signifying the two ICC Cricket World Cup wins for India in 1983 and 2011, when Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni were Indian captains respectively.
Meanwhile, the first warm-up match for India and England at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati for the ODI World Cup 2023 has been marred by torrential rains. The heavens opened up just before the start of the contest at 2 PM after Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field first, which has led to the play being delayed for the past hour and a half.
