India has managed to win seven medals at the Asia Cup 2023 Archery Stage 3 campaign in Singapore to finish fifth in the tournament standings. The tally of medals for the Indian archery team included six silvers and one bronze across both men’s and women’s competitions. South Korea finished top of the medal standings with four golds, one silver, and two bronzes, ahead of China, the second-place team, who won four golds and three bronzes in the Asia Cup.
On the last day of the continental archery tournament, in the individual recurve event for men, Parth Salunkhe won the silver medal for India, after losing out to Qi Xiangshuo of China by a margin of 2-6. In the women’s individual recurve event, Ruma Biswas attained a silver medal after getting defeated by An Qixuan of China by a 2-6 scoreline.
Talking about the men’s recurve team gold medal match, the Indian trio of Parth Salunkhe, Juyel Sarkar, and Rohit Kumar lost by 1-5 to Qi Xiangshuo, Li Zhongyuan, and Wang Dapeng of China to settle for the silver medal. In the women’s recurve team gold medal match, the Indian trio of Ruma Biswas, Ridhi Phor, and Aditi Jaiswal lost by a 3-5 margin to Suhye Jo, Jo Hanyi, and Han Sol of South Korea to add a silver medal to their tally.
In the compound section of the archery event, the men’s team of Uday Kamboj, Kushal Dalal , and Priyansh were defeated by the South Korean team of Choi Yonghee, Yang Jaewon, and Kim Jongho in the final by 238-235 to take home the silver medal. The women’s team with Pragati, Deepshikha, and Sakshi Chaudhary went down to the South Korean team of Oh Yoohyun, So Chaewon, and Song Yun Soo in the final to win yet another silver medal for the country.
With that, they got the U21 world record in the category by scoring 2076 points, one point more than the previous world record.
Also, Pragati beat her teammate Deepshikha by 147-146 to win the bronze medal in the women’s compound individual event.
