One of the medal winning boxer from India at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou is at the risk of being stripped of the medal. However, the identity of the Indian pugilist remains unknown, a female boxer, who won a medal at the recently concluded Asian Games and also earned the Paris 2024 Olympics berth is at risk of losing both.

The unnamed boxer notably failed to file about her whereabouts before the quadrennial games and if proved guilty, might have to face a maximum of two-year ban. However, amidst this, the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) remains optimistic about a favourable resolution.

The PTI in a report quoted a BFI official privy, stating, “The notice was for the period before the Asian Games and the federation got to know about it only after the Games. The boxer was in a disturbed state of mind during that time as one of her parents had been diagnosed with a serious medical condition.”

It is to be noted that the athletes have to update accurate information on their whereabouts in every quarter in order to being located for their out-of competition testing. Hima Das, wrestler Vinesh Phogat, Dipa Karmakar and Bhawana Jat have been a victim of the suspension and warning by the authority previously.
