On Sunday, October 21, Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan took to his official Instagram to announce the birth of a baby boy, getting the gift of fatherhood for the first-time in his life. The 26-year-old shared a candid picture of himself holding his newborn son in his arms, which was posted on an Instagram story from a hospital in the city of Mumbai, while in another picture, Naushad Khan, the grandfather of the baby boy was also standing beside them.
Prior to announcing the birth of his son, it was just last week when Sarfaraz Khan brought up his maiden international hundred for India in his fourth Test appearance against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He went on to score 150 runs in 195 balls, an innings which included 18 fours and three sixes, but ultimately, India lost the first Test of the three-match series by eight wickets against New Zealand in the first half of play on day five.
Since I started playing cricket, it was my dream to play for India and score a 100: Sarfaraz Khan
After the conclusion of the first Test match, Sarfaraz Khan called it a “dream” come true moment to score a hundred for India, which was his first in the longest format of the game. He was quoted as saying to the reporters in the post-match chat, as per the Times of India, “Since I started playing cricket, it was my dream to play for India and score a 100 for India. I am happy.”
Notably, Sarfaraz Khan wasn’t expected to play for India against New Zealand in the first Test, but with Shubman Gill getting ruled out of the match due to a stiff neck, he got a chance in his place. The right-handed batter made the most of his chance in the Indian colours, scoring a ton when the team were down and out of the Test, to stake a claim of potentially getting picked regularly in the Indian playing XI.
In his young first-class career, Sarfaraz Khan has already scored 16 centuries, with four of them being double hundreds.
