While a Rohit Sharma-led Indian Test team is playing a three-day first-class warm-up game against England’s County Select XI in Durham, at the same a Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian side is locking horns with Sri Lanka in a limited-overs series. Both squads are playing on the same day at the same time in two different parts of the world.

In a picture shared by BCCI, it was seen that some of the Indian players in England were watching the game in Sri Lanka. Captain Rohit Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Hanuma Vihari, Ajinkya Rahane, Mohammed Siraj, Mayank Agarwal and Axar Patel were seen watching the game in the dressing room on a laptop. Rohit Sharma was dismissed for just 9 while Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihara all lost their wickets after getting good starts. This is the first time that India are fielding two different teams at the same time at two different places.

In Durham, Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. After 80 overs in the game, India were 273/5 with KL Rahul scoring a hundred ans was well-supported by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who reached his half century. Meanwhile In Sri Lanka, Shikhar Dhawan’s troops are chasing 276 runs in the second ODI having won the first ODI by seven wickets.

Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane miss warm-up game due to injuries

Both Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were left out of the warm-up game against County Select XI due to injuries. While captain Kohli had a stiff back, vice-captain Rahane had mild swelling around his left upper hamstring. This is just a precautionary measure taken by the BCCI medical team to get both fit for the all important five-match Test series against Joe Root’s England. Both players are expected to fully recover in time. The Test series begins on the 4th of August with the first game scheduled to be played at Nottingham.
