The Indian golfer, Diksha Dagar, was involved in an accident in Paris ahead of the Olympics, but she will be taking part in her event as planned after coming out of it relatively unscathed. The 23-year-old and her family members, who were in a car, got hit by another vehicle after returning from a function at the India House on Tuesday night, July 30.
Diksha Dagar was accompanied in the car by her father and caddie Col Naren Dagar, along with her mother and brother, according to the report from the Indian Express. Col Naren Dagar went on to reveal that his daughter is fine, and she will be practising for the women’s golf event scheduled to start from August 7 to 10.
Although, in an unfortunate news, the mother of Diksha Dagar got hospitalised for treatment after the accident with a suspected spine injury. The extent of her injury will be known after further tests and diagnosis of the injury takes place.
Brijinder Singh, the President of the Indian Golf Union, was quoted as saying about the matter to the media, “We spoke to Diksha’s father Col. Dagar after the accident and would like to confirm that the family is safe. Diksha’s mother has suffered a stress in her spine due to the impact and is under medical supervision and her brother is also safe and sound. On behalf of the Indian Golf Union I would like to reiterate that we are in continuous touch with the family and will continue to provide whatever support possible in this situation.”
Apart from Diksha Dagar, the other Indian slated to compete in the women’s golf event at the Paris Olympics 2024 will be Aditi Ashok.
