On Friday, October 25, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member Indian squad for the four-match T20I series in South Africa next month. Suryakumar Yadav will continue in his leadership role of the Indian T20I setup, but he will not have the services of all-rounder Riyan Parag after the latter was ruled out of the South Africa tour due to a chronic right shoulder injury.

According to the press release from the governing body of Indian cricket, Riyan Parag is currently at the BCCI Centre of Excellence located on the outskirts of Bengaluru near the Kempegowda International airport, where he is working on the “long term resolution” of his shoulder injury. Meanwhile, Mayank Yadav, who was the part of the recently concluded three-match T20I series versus Bangladesh, and Shivam Dube, won’t be travelling to South Africa because of their respective injuries.

Owing to the injuries to the aforementioned players, the Indian selection committee has called up Ramandeep Singh, Vijaykumar Vyshak, and Yash Dayal in the T20I setup for the first-time ever. These three young cricketers have been quite exceptional for their respective IPL team in the recently concluded season, and they have been rewarded with the maiden India call-up by the selectors.

The first of four T20I between hosts South Africa and India will be played at the Kingsmead in Durban on November 8. After that, both the teams will travel to Gqeberha to play the second T20I on November 10, before they make their way to the Highveld to finish up the series with the final two matches in Centurion and Johannesburg on November 13 and 15 respectively.
