It is time for the business end of IPL 2022 to commence and it will be the contest between Gujarat and Rajasthan that will set things off. While the winner of this game will directly reach the finals, the team that loses this match will have another opportunity to reach the summit clash when they meet the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2. However, having come this far, neither side would want to waste the opportunity of securing a place in the final.
Moreover, the winning team of the match on May 24 will also get a good break in between and will be well-rested before the final on May 29. The team that loses this, however, will have to play matches in quick succession, if they want to continue in the race for the title.
With a place in the finals at stake, here is what numbers suggest might happen in this match set to be played at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
1. Toss Prediction
Rajasthan lost 12 tosses in IPL 2022 in the league stage, becoming only the second team to do so. Clearly they have had a horror run with the tosses. So predicting Gujarat to win the toss.
2. Win Possibility
This could be a very difficult choice to make. But relying solely on numbers, Gujarat seem to be the favourites. First of all, they finished at a superior number than Rajasthan in the league stage, topping the table while Rajasthan finished at the number 2 spot. Moreover, in these two teams only meeting in IPL history, which was earlier in the season, it was Gujarat who had won the match by a convincing margin of 34 runs. So based on that stat alone, predicting Gujarat to win the match.
3. Team of the Day
The Team of the Day is Gujarat who have been the most consistent team of the tournament in IPL 2022.
4. Powerplay Score
Gujarat have, on an average, scored 46.1 in IPL 2022 so far. On the other hand, Rajasthan have managed to score an average of 49.1 in the powerplay. Both teams are likely to score over 45 in the powerplay in this match.
5. Average first innings and second innings score
The average first innings at this venue in T20Is is 155. The average second innings is 136.
