On Monday, December 18, the organisers of the IPL 2024 auction revealed the final shortlist of players, who are set to go under the hammer in a day’s time. The likes of Travis Head, Gerald Coetzee, Pat Cummins, Shardul Thakur, and Mitchell Starc have cut with the expectation of attracting big-money deals at the auction.

It has been reported that the players from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Ireland are going to be available for the whole IPL season in 2024. The information has been relayed to all the 10 franchises, which will put the players from these countries in the box seat in terms of securing an IPL contract at the auction in comparison to their opposing counterparts.

Apart from Travis Head, some of the top batters to get shortlisted for the IPL 2024 auction are Harry Brook, Steve Smith, Manish Pandey, Karun Nair, and Sameer Rizvi. The demand for all-rounders is very high in the T20 format with the IPL being no different, which has led to names like Gerald Coetzee, Pat Cummins, Rachin Ravindra, and Shardul Thakur getting shortlisted alongside Wanindu Hasaranga, Daryl Mitchell, Harshal Patel, Chris Woakes, and Shahrukh Khan, among others.

The wicket-keepers shortlist for the IPL 2024 auction has a whole host of young players like Josh Inglis, Phil Salt, Kusal Mendis, Tristan Stubbs, KS Bharat, Ricky Bhui, etc. Most of the players in the auction are in the bowling department, wherein Mitchell Starc is expected to receive a massive IPL deal on his return to the tournament.

On the fast bowling side of things, Josh Hazlewood, Dilshan Madushanka, Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson, Kartik Tyagi, and Jaydev Unadkat have cut the IPL 2024 auction. Meanwhile, among the spinners, the top names in the auction are Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Akeal Hosein, Adil Rashid, Tabraiz Shamsi, Shreyas Gopal, and Shiva Singh.
