The Indian Premier League 2024 is not panning as expected for the Delhi Capitals, who began the tournament with two losses followed by their win against the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, as they lost their third after playing four matches. DC faced a huge loss by 106 runs as the Kolkata Knight Riders registered the second-highest total in IPL history 272 runs at the ACA-VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, April 3.

For the Capitals, Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs batted as lone warriors scoring 55 in 25 and 54 in 32 respectively but no other batter managed to stay in the middle.

However, losing the game wasn't enough as the team have been fined for a second over-rate offence this season. The IPL said in a statement, "Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders. As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs. "The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser."

The Delhi Capitals are next scheduled to face the joint-record five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, at the Wankhede on Sunday. Both teams will look to bounce back to revive their respective IPL 2024 campaigns as the Capitals have won only one of their four games while the Indians are yet to win a game in the league after playing three matches.
