On Friday, November 3, Romario Shepherd, the West Indian all-rounder, was traded to Mumbai Indians from Lucknow Super Giants, which happened for his existing fee of ₹50 lakh, during the ongoing trading window for the Indian Premier League (IPL) ahead of the tournament in 2024. This is the first trade of its kind among all the ten teams before the IPL auction is scheduled to take place in December of this year in Dubai, UAE.

The confirmation for the Romario Shepherd from LSG to MI trade came in the form of a media advisory from the IPL on their official website. During his short career in the franchise tournament with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants, he played four matches, scoring 58 runs at an average of 19.33 and a strike rate of 138.10 while picking up three wickets at an economy over ten runs per over.

Mumbai Indians sent out a post on their official X account to confirm that they have brought Romario Shepherd on board for the IPL 2024 from Lucknow Super Giants. The caption read, “LUCKNOW se MUMBAI. Notably, Romario Shepherd got his first look in the IPL with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2022, when they paid a whopping ₹7.5 crore for his services. But, he managed to play only three matches for the former IPL champions before moving to Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2023 for ₹50 lakh, taking part in only one match for them.
