The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is approaching its playoff stage with 62 matches have been completed and just eight more matches remaining in the league stage. The joint-record five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings, defeated Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals on Sunday and clinched the third spot in the standings while the Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered their fifth victory in a row to move up to the fifth spot.
In the IPL 2024 points table, CSK and SRH, who have 14 points each, are placed third and fourth respectively followed by RCB, DC, and LSG with 12 points each, however, Lucknow have played a game less. In this article, we will discuss the chances for each team to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoff.

Kolkata Knight Riders
The two-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Mumbai Indians by 18 runs on Saturday to become the first team to clinch the playoff berth as they have registered 9 wins in 12 matches so far.
Rajasthan Royals
The inaugural IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals topped the points table for most of the season, however, their three consecutive losses have put them behind KKR in the standings. Despite three losses in a row, the Royals have a 99% chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs.
Chennai Super Kings and SunRisers Hyderabad
The win against the Rajasthan Royals at Chepauk on Sunday helped the Chennai Super Kings overtake the SunRisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 points table as both teams have managed 14 points but the Super Kings managed a better net run rate. With their win against RR, CSK now have an 88% chance while SRH, who have played a game less than CSK, have a 97% chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoff.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals
RCB and DC have 12 points each in 13 games, however, the Royal Challengers are placed above the Capitals due to a better net run rate. However, both teams have an identical chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoff as they both have a 1% chance.
Lucknow Super Giants
While LSG also have 12 points, they have played a game less than RCB and DC. After CSK's win against RR, Lucknow's chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoff has increased to 15%.
Gujarat Titans
The Gujarat Titans' previous win over the Chennai Super Kings has fueled hopes of IPL 2024 qualification in the 2022 IPL champions. The Titans have a 1% chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoff after managing 10 points in 12 games.
Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings
The IPL 2024 playoff qualification chances for the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings are zero as they have managed just eight points in 13 and 12 games respectively.
