IPL 2024 has been the most anticipated cricket league among all cricket tournaments around the world. As the tournament approaches, league chairman Arun Dhumal has confirmed that the tournament is set to start from March 22, 2024.

IPL Chairman also mentioned that the schedule will be announced only for the first 15 days, and the rest of the games will be decided after the announcement of the election dates. He further informed that despite the upcoming general elections, the tournament will take place entirely in India. "We are looking at a March 22 start for the tournament. We are working closely with the government agencies and we will first release the initial schedule. The entire tournament will be held in India," said Dhumal as quoted by PTI.

As per earlier reports, the final of IPL 2024 is scheduled to be held on May 26, just a week before the T20 World Cup begins. However, India will begin their T20 World Cup 2024 with a match against Ireland in New York on June 5.  The IPL opener will follow the tradition of being played between the previous year's finalists, that is, Chennai Super Kings and runners-up Gujarat Titans.

So far in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), only once ha the tournament completely hosted outside of India. In 2009, the IPL was played entirely in South Africa, whereas the tournament shifted to UAE in 2014 due to elections. Later in 2019, IPL was completely hosted in the Indian subcontinent despite the general elections.
