The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to kickstart the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. They will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening match of the season at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22. KKR had a memorable season last year where they went on to win their third IPL title after seven years. Now, they will be coming with a new-looking team along with a new captain and a new mentor in IPL 2025.
It will be the 18th edition of the IPL, where 10 teams from different cities will lock horns to get their hands on the title on May 25. Total 74 matches will be played throughout the season including 70 matches in the league stages. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs stage of the tournament. The first qualifier and the Eliminator will be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on May 20 and 21 respectively, while the second qualifier is scheduled to be played in Kolkata on May 23 followed by the final at the same ground on May 25.
KKR IPL 2025 Schedule
KKR will be looking to start their IPL 2025 from where they left in the last edition in 2024. Under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, they went on to lift their third title in IPL 2024. However, KKR will be coming under a new captain in IPL 2025 after releasing Shreyas Iyer ahead of the upcoming season. KKR will begin their IPL 2025 campaign with a match against RCB at Eden Gardens on March 22. After that, KKR are scheduled to play next two games at away venues before they return to their home ground as they face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 3. In the last league match of the season, KKR and RCB will face each other again at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 17.
