The pacer saw himself in the middle of an intense tussle between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings. The Punjab-based frahchise was on the top with a bid of Rs. 6.50 crore. However, the Delhi-based franchise used the RTM option. PBKS then bumped their bid to Rs. 8 crore, but DC managed to retain Mukesh Kumar.
Mukesh Kumar's IPL Career
After being released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Mukesh Kumar registered himself for a base price of INR 2 crore. The 31-year-old right-arm medium pacer is known for his accurate bowling and good variations in the shortest format of the game. He is effective in the middle overs to break partnerships and can deliver excellent yorkers in the death overs.
Mukesh started his IPL career with Delhi Capitals in 2023, playing 10 matches and taking 7 wickets. He continued with DC in 2024, where he performed his best, taking 17 wickets in 10 matches and playing a key role for the team that season.
