The highly anticipated IPL 2025 mega auction, which will decide the fate of 577 shortlisted players, is currently underway at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With just 204 slots up for grabs, including 70 overseas ones, only a select few out of 367 Indian and 210 overseas players will be picked by the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams for the 2025 season. Jofra Archer, who is one of the sought-after overseas players in the mega auction, has been signed by Rajasthan Royals for INR 12.50 Crore.

After missing the last season due to injury, Jofra Archer registered himself for a base price of INR 2 Crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, and after the ECB initally refused him the NOC, they eventually granted it to him just days before the big event. Coming into the sixth set, the war began between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants. Although, LSG dropped out of the race, Rajasthan Royals joined the race to rope in the English pacer, eventually securing his services for INR 12.50 Cr.

The English bowler is known for his speed, swing, and accuracy, with his impressive bowling action. He is effective with the ball in all stages of the game including powerplay, middle overs, and death overs.

Jofra Archer in IPL so far

Jofra Archer began his IPL career in 2018 with Rajasthan Royals, and impressed in his first season, taking 15 wickets in 10 matches. He played for RR until 2020, picking up 46 wickets and winning many matches for them. He missed one season due to injury, and was bought by Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022. However, he missed the entire season. Archer made his comeback in 2023, and took 2 wickets in 5 matches for MI.

In total, the 29-year-old has played 40 IPL matches, taking 48 wickets with an average of 24.39 and an economy rate of 7.43. He is known for his ability to move the ball during the powerplay with accurate lines and lengths, as well as his variations and strong yorkers in the later stages of the game.
