The highly anticipated IPL 2025 mega auction, which will decide the fate of 577 shortlisted players, is currently underway at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With just 204 slots up for grabs, including 70 overseas ones, only a select few out of 367 Indian and 210 overseas players will be picked by the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams for the 2025 season. Moeen Ali, who is one of the sought after Indian players in the mega auction, has been signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 2 Cr.

Moeen Ali's IPL Career

After being released by CSK ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Moeen Ali registered himself for a base price of INR 2 Crore. The English all-rounder is known for his left-handed batting in the middle order and right-arm off-break bowling.

Moeen Ali started his IPL journey with RCB in 2018, where he played five matches, scored 77 runs, and taking three wickets. He remained with RCB for the next two seasons. In IPL 2021, CSK bought him, and he became a key player for them, scoring 853 runs and taking 25 wickets during his time with the team.His best performance came in IPL 2021, where he scored 357 runs and took six wickets in 15 matches.

Overall, Moeen has played 67 IPL matches, scoring 1,162 runs and taking 35 wickets. He won two IPL trophies with CSK in 2021 and 2023. The 37-year-old is a valuable middle-overs option, capable of anchoring the innings or hitting big shots as a batter. As a spinner, he can take crucial wickets, making him a strong all-round option for team.
