The highly anticipated IPL 2025 mega auction, which will decide the fate of 577 shortlisted players, is currently underway at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With just 204 slots up for grabs, including 70 overseas ones, only a select few out of 367 Indian and 210 overseas players will be picked by the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams for the 2025 season. Trent Boult, New Zealand's left-arm pacer and the most sought-after player in the mega auction has been signed by Mumbai Indians for INR 12.50 Cr.
After an intense war between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), Mumbai Indians (MI) joined in at a later stage to fight for the premium pacer. The five-time champions finally secured his services for INR 12.50 Crore.
Trent Boult's IPL Career
Trent began his IPL journey in 2015 and has a good track record on his bowling side. Being a priced asset, he played for SRH, MI, and RR. His last stint was with RR, which picked him up for Rs 8 crore. The 35-year-old pacer has played 104 IPL matches and has 121 wickets in total. His impressive average of 26.69 has made him the most preferred and trusted bowler for any franchise he played.
His best year was in 2020, when he took 25 wickets at an average of 18.28. The wealth of bowling experience he carries is certainly going to help the respective teams to create some difference. In the last season with RR, Trent played 16 matches, taking 16 runs. It will be interesting to see how he delivers in the IPL 2025 season.
