The highly anticipated IPL 2025 mega auction, which will decide the fate of 577 shortlisted players, is currently underway at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. With just 204 slots up for grabs, including 70 overseas ones, only a select few out of 367 Indian and 210 overseas players will be picked by the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams for the 2025 season. Australian cricketer Marcus Stoinis has recently been sold to Punjab Kings for INR 11 Crore for the upcoming season. 

Marcus Stoinis was one of the most anticipated names in the IPL 2025 mega auction after getting released by Lucknow Super Giants. He could be an useful addition who could provide strength toPunjab Kings' middle-order with his power-hitting abilities and can also take crucial wickets as a fast bowler. It will be interesting to how Punjab Kings use him in the upcoming season of the cash-rich league.

Marcus Stoinis IPL career

Marcus Stoinis made his IPL debut for Punjab Kings (previously known as Kings XI Punjab) after the franchise bought him for INR 55 Lakh ahead of IPL 2016. Since then, he went on to play for different franchises throughout the years in his IPL career including Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. The Australian cricketer has played 96 matches in his IPL career so far scoring 1866 runs with the bat and taking 43 wickets with the ball.
