Punjab Kings (PBKS), who are yet to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) in their history, have managed to put together an impressive squad for the upcoming 2025 season, with great depth in their all-rounder department. After retaining the likes of Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh before the mega auction, PBKS invested heavily on Shreyas Iyer, securing his services for a whopping INR 26.75 Crore contract before naming him the captain.
The quality of all-rounders in PBKS is exemplary with the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Azmatullah Omarzai, Aaron Hardie, Marco Jansen, Shashank Singh, and Suryansh Shedge expected to play a part in their 2025 campaign at some stage or another. Apart from that, their Indian batting core has a great blend of youth and experience with names like Shreyas Iyer, Musheer Khan, Prabhsimran Singh, Shashank Singh, and Nehal Wadhera, among others. In this article, SportsTiger looks at the strongest XI of PBKS in the IPL 2025.
IPL 2025: Strongest Playing XI of PBKS
Openers: Prabhsimran Singh, Josh Inglis
Prabhsimran Singh has turned into an exemplary batter for PBKS in recent times, and he is expected to continue playing his role as an opener with an aim to score quickly in the powerplay stage before looking to bat long. He could be joined at the top of the order by Australian wicketkeeper batter Josh Inglis, known for his ability to smash the bowlers from the get-go, whether the pacers or spinners alike.

Middle Order: Shreyas Iyer (c), Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Nehal Wadhera
PBKS have a very destructive middle order with batters known to hit sixes consistently against the spinners, and they can also belt the fast bowlers after getting set. Captain Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis will be providing stability to the batting lineup of PBKS at number three and four, while Glenn Maxwell and Nehal Wadhera can start to dominate the opposition from the get-go especially when the platform is set for them, while the Australian all-rounders can give a few decent overs in the middle stages of the innings as well.
All-Rounders: Shashank Singh, Marco Jansen
Shashank Singh made a big name for himself in the previous season of the IPL in PBKS colours with his batting exploits in the second half of the innings, smashing boundaries at will against the bowlers. Marco Jansen is a great addition for PBKS at number eight in the batting order, muscling the ball to all corners of the ground in the death overs, while his primary role will be to pick wickets in the powerplay stage.
Bowlers: Vijaykumar Vyshak, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal
Vijaykumar Vyshak has a great ability to bowl variations in the death overs apart from swinging the new ball, which will prompt the PBKS captain to use him in different stages of the innings. Arshdeep Singh and new-recruit Yuzvendra Chahal will strengthen the bowling attack of PBKS with not only their wicket-taking skills, but also frustrate the opposition batters in regards to not letting them hit boundaries consistently.
Impact Player: Harpreet Brar for Prabhsimran Singh
Harpreet Brar, who is a bowling all-rounder, could replace Prabhsimran Singh in the playing XI of PBKS as an impact player if they are batting first.
