Moreover, the Rest of India (ROI) will see players from several states, barring the champion state feature in the squad for the one-off match, set to be played October 1 to 5.

Why Irani Cup has been moved from Mumbai to Lucknow?

The decision to relocate the Irani Cup tie from Mumbai to Lucknow is due to the extended monsoon leading to unfavourable weather conditions in the city. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced the 2024-25 domestic cricket schedule which had the Irani Cup tie being held in Mumbai. But due to the uncertain weather conditions, the five-day fixture was moved out of Mumbai.

Speaking of India’s domestic season, the 2024-25 calendar started with opening round of Duleep Trophy which saw India B and India C come out victorious. Several Team India stars, including the likes of Rishabh Pant, Kl Rahul, Washington Sundar, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, among others featured in the opening round.

After the conclusion of the first round, the second round is set to be played from September 12 till September 15 in Anantapur. While India A will take on Shreyas Iyer-led India D at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, India B, featuring Rinku Singh will take on India C at the ACA ADCA Ground in Anantapur.
