Mehuli Ghosh, a 22-year-old Indian shooter, has secured a quota place for the Paris 2024 Olympics by winning a bronze medal in the women's 10-meter air rifle event at th e ISSF World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Saturday. Ghosh, who hails from West Bengal, shot a score of 229.8 in the final to finish behind China's Wang Zillin (250.2) and Hang Jiayu (251.1), who won silver and gold, respectively.

India is currently third in the medal standings with four medals behind China and USA who have 12 and three medals, respectively. India has two golds and two bronzes, while the USA have two golds and one silver, which is why they are ahead.  Ghosh also helped India get fourth place in the race for the Paris 2024 Olympics, which will be held in July-August next year.  

However, earlier In the mixed team event, Mehuli Ghosh (316.0) and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar (314.2) accumulated a total of 630.2 whereas the other Indian pair comprising Divyansh Singh Panwar (314.6) and Ramita (313.7) put together 628 but it wasn't good enough to land them a place in the top-four as only the final four qualify for the main event.
