The Sri Lankan left-arm fast bowler Isuru Udana had a lucky escape from a snake during the match 15 of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. On August 12, Saturday, the scary incident happened during the bowling innings of B-Love Kandy, when they were defending a formidable total of 178 against Jaffna Kings.
Notably, Wanindu Hasaranga, the captain of B-Love Kandy, won the toss and chose to bat first in Colombo on Saturday evening. The team got off to a rollicking start, with the overseas opening partnership of Mohammad Haris and Fakhar Zaman adding 51 runs in 5.3 overs.

Jaffna Kings made a comeback into the match with three quick wickets of Fakhar Zaman, Dinesh Chandimal, and Sahan Arachchige. But then the veteran Angelo Matthews joined Mohammad Haris to stitch together a 75-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Mohammad Haris top scored for B-Love Kandy, with 81 runs off 51 deliveries with 10 fours and two sixes to help propel their total to 178/8 in the allotted 20 overs. Nuwan Thushara was the pick of the bowlers for Jaffna Kings, picking up three wickets in his spell for 31 runs.
Then, in the bowling innings of B-Love Kandy, under the bright lights of R Premadasa Stadium, Isuru Udana was seen taking evasive action when the snake slithered past him. The Sri Lankan journalist Azzam Ameen shared the clip of the scary incident on his official Twitter account.

Isuru Udana recovered from the moment to deliver a fantastic spell of bowling for his team, picking up the vital wicket of David Miller. The main difference between the two sides was Angelo Matthews, who picked up incredible figures of 3/10 in his three overs, to help B-Love Kandy secure an eight-run win against Jaffna Kings, with the veteran batter Shoaib Malik staying not out on 55 off 37.
