Royal Challengers Bangalore wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik shared an update on pacer Reece Topley’s shoulder injury from RCB's IPL opener. The English speedster hurt his shoulder while fielding against the Mumbai Indians at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Topley dived after the ball in an attempt to stop it but he landed awkwardly and was immediately taken off the field.

After the game, Dinesh Karthik was speaking to Jio Cinema regarding the game and stat that Topley’s shoulder popped out before going back in. Karthik further expressed that the Englishman didn’t seem to be in a lot of pain and was taken for a scan during the game. 


Dinesh Karthik said, “It (shoulder) did pop out, but it went back in. I think he went for a scan during the game itself. He’s not in as much pain as we thought he’d be. We’ll have to wait and see.” 



Before being ruled out of the game, Reece Topley was having a decent performance against the Mumbai Indians. The 29-year-old had bowled two overs while giving away 14 runs and dismissed debutant Cameron Green at a score of five. But despite the injury, Royal Challengers capped off a stunning result on the back of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis’ incredible batting performances.  


But before this batting masterclass, the RCB bowlers had a great bowling display and reduced the five-time champions to a score of 48-4 in eight overs. Here 20-year-old Tilak Varma stepped up and put on 84 runs in 46 balls to take Mumbai Indian’s total to 171 in 20 overs. Debutant Nehal Wadhera also had a great cameo of 21 in 13 balls. 


Then in the second innings, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis lit up the Chinnaswamy Stadium as they posted an opening partnership of 148 runs in 14 overs. Despite losing a few late wickets, Kohli finished off the game with a magnificent six as he remained not out at 82. Du Plessis was dismissed at 73 in 43 while Glenn Maxwell added 12 in balls.
