Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh, who served Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has expressed repentance for getting involved in an infamous IPL 2008 brawl with his former national teammate S Sreesanth. Back in 2008, when MI squared off against PBKS for the first time in Mohali, both bowlers clashed with each other. Harbhajan was captaining MI in that contest while Sreesanth was an integral part of Punjab lineup. Following the incident, the media showed a clip that revealed Sreesanth crying relentlessly.

It was later revealed that Sressanth’s emotions burst out after his senior Team India colleague slapped him. Noting Harbhajan’s deed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) handed him an 11-match ban. Recalling the 17-year-old matter, Harbhajan accepted his mistake and also issued an apology on X. Replying to a clip of the incident on social media, Harbhajan wrote, “This wasn’t right bhai. It was my mistake . Shouldn’t hv done this . But Galti hui Insaan hu. Bhagwaan nahi."

Harbhajan taunts SRH for their muddled batting display against DC in IPL 2025

Harbhajan, who is a part of hindi commentary in the cash-rich league, took a jibe while witnessing Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) chaotic batting performance against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Visakhapatnam in IPL 2025. Batting first after winning the toss, the Orange Army lost four quick wickets within the powerplay overs while attacking bowlers.

Opener Travis Head, who was looking in brilliant touch, lost his wicket to his compatriot Mitchell Starc after scoring 22 off 12. Harbhajan slammed SRH’s batting approach and said, “You won’t get to 150 if you are aiming to post 300 runs on the board”. Harbhajan received support from his former India teammate Suresh Raina, who was lending his views as a commentator.

DC bagged a convincing seven wicket win in the game against SRH, chasing down the total of 164 in just 16 overs. Mitchell Starc, who grabbed 5/35 figures for Delhi became the player of the match for his stunning bowling. The Capitals are now in the second spot on the points tally with two wins after playing as many matches.
