Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk recalled MS Dhoni's entry onto the field during the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League. The cricketer had a remarkable maiden appearance in the cash-rich league, where he took little time to make an impact. McGurk finished his debut IPL season with 330 runs and an impressive strike rate of 234.04, averaging at 36. It was in no time the Australian got recognition due to his explosive hitting skills.

The 22-year-old recently shared his most memorable moment from the IPL season, to which he recalled the clash between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings in Visakhapatnam. McGurk recalled how the entire crowd at the stadium went crazy while welcoming former CSK skipper MS Dhoni. The game saw the five-time IPL winning captain scoring a total of 37 runs off 16 deliveries.

It was the loudest thing I had ever heard: Jake Fraser McGurk recalls MS Dhoni’s entry into stadium

Jake recalled how the entire stadium had turned into a sea of yellow, and the crowd went crazy when Dhoni walked into bat. Speaking on ‘The Unplayable Podcast’, the Aussie batter said, “The best thing I saw was Delhi had a home game against Chennai; it was in Vizag; we had a home game there. I’m thinking that everyone from Delhi is going to turn out with blue jerseys everywhere. The crowd was fully yellow, with Dhoni's No.7 jersey all around. All the flags were yellow.”

He added, “When Dhoni came out, it was the loudest thing I had ever heard. I was closing my ears because it was hurting my head. It was amazing; that would be the stand-out thing apart from my performance. He got 40 off not many [37 off 16], so he just went out there and started booming everywhere. The first ball he hit for a six, and it was louder than when he walked in.”

The 22-year-old added, “The whole little 30-minute period was one of the loudest noises that I have ever heard. I couldn’t believe that it was for one guy that all of India just dropped on their knees for, that is, MS Dhoni. To see it in person is truly surreal.”
