With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mearing its half-stage mark, in match number 29, the Delhi Capitals (DC) will host the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital on Sunday, April 13. While both teams are coming off contrasting results this season, MI will eagerly hope Rohit Sharma’s striking return at the top of the order.

The Team India skipper and former captain of the Mumbai-based franchise, Rohit Sharma has not yet clicked with the bat. In the four matches so far he has played in the cash-rich league, the 37-year-old has only got 38 runs at an average of 9.50 and a strike rate of 131.03. His highest score of 17 came in MI’s last match against RCB.

It's just a matter of time before he makes (a) hundred: Michael Clarke on Rohit Sharma

Ahead of MI’s upcoming clash against DC, former Australia captain and an expert now Michael Clarke, backed Rohit Sharma while adding that he is just one knock away from getting a hundred in the ongoing tournament. Speaking on the sidelines of IPL 2025, Clarke said, as quoted by PTI, "I think Rohit's an absolute superstar. It's just a matter of time before he makes (a) hundred. I think it's going to take one decent innings. It might be a 40, it might be a 60. He'll get momentum and then, you know, you'll see the best of Rohit Sharma.”

The former Aussie cricketer also added that Rohit will soon get the momentum and the world will get to see the best of him. "I wouldn't be too concerned about his form. He'll get momentum and then, you know, you'll see the best of Rohit Sharma. I wouldn't be too concerned about his form. We all have high expectations of the great players because they've been so successful over a long period of time that, yeah, you're allowed to miss out on a couple of games. But class is permanent,” he added.

While Rohit’s form is a sign of concern, Mumbai Indians (MI) are also hnot having a desired season as they have lost four matches in five matches. Their solitary win came against defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
