Taskin Ahmed, the Bangladesh fast bowler, felt great about making his long-awaited return to Test cricket after an 18-month absence. The 29-year-old, who is currently playing against Pakistan in a Test match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, spoke about enjoying his bowling on day two despite struggling a bit, and he looked forward to doing better in the next innings.
Notably, on day two of the second and final Test of the series, Taskin Ahmed picked up three Pakistan wickets in 17 overs, conceding 57 runs in total. After the first day’s play got washed out due to rain, Bangladesh pacer bowled the opening over of the Test match on day two, picking up the first wicket in the same over, castling Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique, who didn’t trouble the scorers after six balls.
It's great to be back in Test cricket after one and a half years: Taskin Ahmed
In an interview with the reporters after the conclusion of play on day two, bundling out Pakistan for 274 runs, Taskin Ahmed said, per Cricbuzz, “It's great to be back in Test cricket after one and a half year, I really enjoyed but I struggled a bit, it will be fine from the next innings there are some adaption things [that needs to be done]. I am working on different things like I am playing for a long time and have to adapt in different format and that is my duty as a experienced and senior bowler.”
Taskin Ahmed also picked up the wickets of Saud Shakeel and Salman Agha in the first innings of Pakistan, but dismissing Abdullah Shafique with a well-executed set-up gave him the most satisfaction. He said, “That wicket (Abdullah Shafique) wicket was really enjoyable for me that wicket first I set him with away ones while the last one I bring one in and that happened and that was intentional and that's why I am really happy about this wicket.
“You know sometimes I won't get wickets but the process has to be same. Still I am learning and played almost ten years so that's how I learned,” Taskin Ahmed concluded.
