Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw suffered a knee injury while fielding for Northamptonshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup 2023 and is currently recovering from it. Prior to the knee injury, Shaw created history by slamming a record-breaking 244 against Somerset. In just four matches, the Indian opening batter amassed 429 runs for the English county club.
Apart from being a talented cricketer, Shaw is also widely popular for his savage responses on social media. Recently, he shared a picture on his Instagram, where a user took a jibe at his physical appearance, advising the Indian opener to work on his fitness like Virat Kohli. Shaw gave a fitting reply to the troll, which in no time has gone viral.
Here’s the conversation:
Notably, t his is not the first time Shaw has been body-shamed for his weight. Recently, author Ankur Warikoo also trolled him for his appearance. However, he later apologised for his "insensitive" post.
A user had posted a picture of the Indian cricketer on X, formerly called Twitter. He captioned it saying, "Indian diet and genetics are unparalleled This is a 23-year-old Indian athlete 23!" Replying to the same, Warikoo said, "Bet his mom thinks 'patla ho gaya hai' :))."
This comment from the author drew a lot of criticism on social media. A few people pointed out that Shaw lost his mother when he was just a kid. A few hours later, upon realising his mistake, Warikoo said that his post was "extremely insensitive" and was a "horrible mistake".
On another note, the talented 23-year-old has been out of contention for Team India for the last two years. He last played for the Men in Blue on the tour of Sri Lanka in July 2021.
