England spearhead and one of the greats of the game, James Anderson is all set to call off curtains to his decorated career at the end of this summer. According to reports citing The Guardian, the English bowler will retire from international cricket at the end of 2024 summer.
Anderson is the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history, having claimed 700 wickets in his 20-year-long career. Moreover, these reports come into picture after talks with coach Brendon McCullum. As reported by The Guardian, Anderson recently met McCullum in-person after the former New Zealand cricketer flew to the UK to tell him, discussing England Cricket’s future plans.
According to the English daily, the management is looking towards the Ashes 2025-26 series down under and is not looking at Anderson to make the cut. This comes after the England pacer has been short of wickets during his recent outing, like that against India, earlier this year. Moreover, the veteran seamer had claimed only five wickets from four outings in Ashes series in England last summer and finished with ten wickets from four matches in England’s 1-4 loss against India.
