India star cricketers Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are likely to return to India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2023. Iyer and Bumrah underwent back surgeries recently, and it is why they weren’t a part of the recently concluded Indian Premier League and World Test Championship Final 2023. Both the players are undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy.

As per the reports by ESPN Cricinfo, as Iyer and Bumrah are on their road to recovery, the NCA medical staff is optimistic that they can be available for the Asia Cup in September. Bumrah suffered a recurring back injury and underwent surgery in New Zealand in March.

While the 29-year-old Indian pacer hasn’t played since the home T20Is last year, Shreyas Iyer suffered a bulging disc in his lower back. Iyer had to call off the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in March in Ahmedabad. The 28-year-old batter underwent surgery in London and is now undergoing physiotherapy.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant, who suffered a fatal car accident in December is currently under a rehabilitation in the NCA.  The youngster has surprised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with his fast-paced recovery, and the officials at the India’s cricket governing body are fast tracking his rehab, hoping he will return to the ODI World Cup 2023.

The reports suggest that the 25-year-old Pant is largely pain-free, yet will take some time to gain control on his skills. The 25-year-old cricketer is believed to mix his rehab with aqua therapy sessions, light swimming and table tennis.

The wicketkeeper-batsman played last during India’s tour of Bangladesh in December 2022. The star cricketer missed out on several big tournaments due to the accident he met with last year. The Roorkee-born cricketer has been timely updating his fans about his recovery progress. Needless to say, his followers cannot wait to see him back in action.
