Indian ace Jasprit Bumrah surpassed legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s all-time record in ICC’s latest Test rankings. Bumrah achieved the highest rating points ever by an Indian bowler, and solidified his position at the top of the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings. Notably, the Indian bowler displayed an exceptional performance in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, and has been India’s top performer as well as a ray of hope in the series. The Indian bowler has picked 30 wickets in four Tests against the Kangaroos so far. 

The 31-year-old has got 907 rating points, and surpassed his previous best of 904, which he shared with former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. He now shares the 17th position on the all-time list with England’s former spinner Derek Underwood. Not only this, but he has been also shortlisted for the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy and the Test Cricketer of the Year Award by the ICC. The all-time rankings are led by English bowlers Sydney Barnes (932) and George Lohmann (931), followed by Imran Khan (922) and Muttiah Muralitharan (920) in third and fourth spots. 

Yashasvi Jaiswal secures career best fourth spot in ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings

Talking about the Men’s Test Batting Rankings, Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal secured the career-best ranking and grabbed fourth spot on the standings. On the other hand, Australian veteran Steve Smith moved three places to secure seventh spot. Saud Shakeel moved up to a career best ranking of sixth spot, while Indian star Nitish Kumar Reddy secured 53rd spot after moving up to 20 places. The all-rounder recently recorded his maiden Test century in the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar series 2024-25. 

On the other hand, Rahmat Shah moved up 21 places to 52, while Hashmatullah Shahidi moved up 25 places to equal 57. They surpassed the highest-ever Test scores for Afghanistan with double hundreds.
