Kishore Jena, one of the world's best javelin thrower and the first athlete from Odisha to represent India in the finals of the renowned World Athletics Championship, received a monetary prize of INR 50 Lakh from Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday for his performance.
In the javelin throw at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest last month, Kishore Jena finished among the top five, making a strong impression on the Indian sports community.
Chief Minister Pattnaik commended Jena's remarkable accomplishment and rewared him the monetary prize. The CM claimed that everyone in Odisha should be proud of Jena's success, not just him personally. His incredible journey to the World Athletics Championships finals is a source of inspiration for young people and a testament to the quality that Odisha has to offer. The CM went on to say that Odisha is committed to fostering and developing such sporting talents.
Although Kishore Jena did not secure a podium finish, the top spot was claimed by none other than Golden Boy Neeraj Chopra, who recorded a huge throw of 88.17m. The silver and bronze medal were claimed by Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem (87.82m) and Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch (86.67m).
