Team India pacer Jaydev Unadkat is having a dream run on the field lately. After making his return in Test cricket after 12 years of making India debut, the fast bowler starred as he took crucial wickets to help India whitewash Bangladesh at home in the two-match Test series in December 2022. The 31-year-old wreaked havoc in the ongoing Ranji match between Saurashtra and Delhi.

The Indian pacer became the first bowler in Ranji Trophy’s 88-year-old history to take a first-over hat-trick. The Saurashtra captain, who missed the side’s first two matches due to national commitments made his impact felt during the game on Tuesday. The 31-year-old dismissed in-form Delhi batter Dhruv Shorey in the third ball of the opening over. After this, Vaibhav Rawal and Delhi skipper Yash Dhull were sent back on golden ducks on next two deliveries of the over.

The left-arm pacer did not rest here. Unadkat went on to complete a five-wicket haul in his second over of the innings. The pacer struck twice to dismiss Jonty Sidhu (4) and Lakshay Thareja (1) in the next over.

Talking about the match between Saurashtra and Delhi, the Yash Dhull-led side won the toss and opted to bat first. On the back of Unadkat’s five-fer, Delhi were reduced to 5/6 in three overs. Delhi at the time of writing was reduced to 53/8 after 15 overs. Out of the top six batters, five went run-less with Jonty Sidhu scoring four runs.
