Five-time Indian Premier League champions Mumbai Indians have been jolted with a massive blow as their side will miss the services of Australian cricketer Jhye Richardson. This news comes after the 26-year-old took to social media to share an update on his health on March 11 (Saturday).
The Aussie cricketer took to Twitter to update on his surgery. “Injuries are a big part of cricket, that’s a fact. Frustrating? Absolutely. But I’m now in a scenario where I can get back to doing what I love and work bloody hard to become an even better player than before. One step back, two steps forward. Let’s do this”, he captioned the post along with an image from the hospital.
Richardson becomes the second Mumbai Indians player to miss the upcoming IPL 2023. Earlier, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was also ruled out of the 16th edition of the cash-rich league. Bumrah is currently in New Zealand and has reportedly undergone a successful surgery.
It is to be noted that Jhye Richardson suffered a recurrence of the injury playing club cricket last week. With injury troubling him since long, he had to pull out of BBL 2022-23 and was later ruled out of the ODI series against India, set to start from March 17 in Mumbai.
