Fans took to social media to laud Rishabh Pant and troll Sanju Samson during their respective knocks in the T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match. Before the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup gets underway on Sunday, June 2 (IST), India engaged in a warm-up fixture against Bangladesh at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. The match started with India skipper Rohit Sharma winning the toss and inviting the rivals to field first.
Rohit Sharma opened with Sanju Samson, which came as a surprise for fans and experts. Samson, who is regarded as one of the most reliable middle-order batters for the side, has been in and out of the national squad for some time. However, the cricketer was picked in the squad for the World Cup 2024, but failed to utilise the opportunity.
Samson had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring just one run off six deliveries. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant, who got a national call after more than a year announced his arrival right in the first game. The wicketkeeper-batter came to bat at third and scored half century, earning applauds from fans and pundits.
