Jofra Archer, the England fast bowler, who is one of the best performers of his craft in the modern era, has reportedly been added to the final shortlist of players for the IPL 2025 mega auction, which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. The IPL teams have been informally informed about the inclusion of Jofra Archer’s name in the player list for the upcoming IPL auction, but the official announcement about this blockbuster news is expected to come in due course.
In the build-up to the IPL 2025 mega auction, Jofra Archer initially registered his name with a base price of INR 2 Crore before he wasn’t shortlisted for it due to the English & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) not giving him an NOC, wanting him to be fit and ready for the Ashes down under next year. But, with just days remaining for the auction, the Barbados-born pacer and his representatives, as per the ESPNcricinfo report, held discussions with the ECB and the BCCI about the repercussions of not being in the shortlist.
Jofra Archer has played in IPL for Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians
The journey of Jofra Archer began in the IPL in 2018 with Rajasthan Royals, and he was an integral part of the franchise’s setup for three consecutive seasons. The right-arm fast bowler made 35 appearances for RR, picking up 46 wickets at an economy of around seven runs per over, with his performance in the 2020 season being the standout, which saw him take 20 wickets in just 14 matches at an economy of just 6.55, but despite that, his team finished in the bottom of the points table in eighth place.
After missing out on IPL in 2021 and 2022 due to injuries, Jofra Archer returned to the league with the Mumbai Indians in the 2023 season with an INR 8 Crore contract. But he could only play five matches for them, picking up just two wickets before leaving them midway to sort out his fitness issue, which also kept him out of the tournament earlier this year.
