It is now understood that Jorge Jesus has given his initial green light to take up the managerial role at the Brazil national team, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Dorival Jr., who was the coach of the Brazilian national team was sacked by the Brazil football federation after a humiliating 1-4 defeat to South-American rivals Argentina in a qualifier match for the FIFA 2026 World Cup. This marked him as the third coach who had been fired by the Brazilian federation in the span of two years, as none of them had been able to produce the desired results with the national team.
Jorge Jesus, who is currently managing Saudi Pro League team Al Hilal, has a contract until June 2025. He was recruited by the Saudi side for a second stint at the club in 2023 and brought about instant impact by winning the Saudi Pro League with his team in that season. Delighted with this result, the management decided to extend the Portuguese manager's contract by another year, keeping him at the club till the end of the current season. If current reports are to be believed, this season could be the last one for Jorge at Al Hilal.

Jorge Jesus is one of Portugal’s most accomplished football managers, known for his tactical prowess and attacking philosophy. His career began with lower-tier Portuguese clubs before making his mark at SC Braga and Benfica, where he won three Primeira Liga titles and reached two Europa League finals. He later joined Sporting CP, winning the 2017–18 Taça da Liga, before venturing abroad. In Saudi Arabia, he led Al Hilal to domestic success.
His biggest triumph came with Flamengo, winning the 2019 Copa Libertadores and the Brasileirão, completing a historic double. Jesus returned to Benfica but struggled to replicate his earlier success. After a stint with Fenerbahçe, where he won the 2023 Turkish Cup, he rejoined Al Hilal, guiding them to Saudi Pro League dominance.
