Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Scotland next month due to a calf injury sustained in a training session. Riley Meredith, who last played a T20I for Australia in 2021, will be replacing Josh Hazlewood on the Scotland tour, for which the Australian squad will leave their shores on Monday, August 26.

As per the report from ESPNcricinfo, the injury of Josh Hazlewood is minor in nature, which is why he will be available for the white-ball tour to England in the second half of September. Although with the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test series against India set to happen in just three months’ time, the Australian selectors “may take a cautious” approach in this regard.

Apart from Josh Hazlewood, his fast bowling partners Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins won’t be heading to Scotland for the T20I series either. While Starc is going to be available for the ODIs against England, Cummins has skipped both the tours altogether.

“The priority at the moment is to smash out some gym work and start reassessing in a few weeks a path forward. I'm just trying to fill up the bucket again after two years of non-stop bowling. [Hoping] come that first Test [against India] in as good of a position as I have been in for a few years,” said Pat Cummins last week about his schedule for the next few months.

Here is the Australian T20I squad on tour to Scotland:
