Joshua Little, the left-arm fast bowler from Ireland, has rejoined the Gujarat Titans squad after taking part in a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in Chelmsford, England. Earlier in the Indian Premier League 2023 season, Little had played eight matches for the Titans in which he took six wickets at an economy of 8.21.
On May 5, before joining Ireland cricket team to compete against Bangladesh, the Irish fast bowling ace played for Gujarat Titans against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, where he registered figures of 1/24 in his four over spell. His bowling exploits were a massive contributing factor as GT were able to demolish RR by nine wickets with 37 balls to spare.
During this one-sided game, in the mid-innings break, Little talked about leaving the IPL to play international cricket for Ireland for the time being. The Irishman also hoped that the Titans would find a way to qualify through to the playoffs and beyond, so that he could return to India to play later this month.
Little was quoted as saying, “I go back tonight after the game [to Ireland] to play three ODIs and then come back hopefully for the qualifying part of the [playoffs] and then hopefully for the final.” He might take part in the next IPL encounter for Gujarat Titans against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 21.
For the unversed, Joshua Little played in all the three ODIs for Ireland against Bangladesh at the County Cricket Ground in Chelmsford, England. In this series, he picked up four wickets at a high economy of 6.75. His uninspiring performances were the major reason why the Irish lost the series to Bangladesh by 2-0.
