Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann extended his tenure as the coach of the national football team past Euro. This eliminates all the chances of him returning to Bayern Munich to replace Thomas Tuchel as their coach. Nagelsmann will be with the German national team till the end of the 2026 World Cup. Nagelsmann replaced Hansi Flick in September 2023 on a short-term deal, which was expected to end after the European Championships in 2024.

The 36-year-old has already made a significant impact during his tenure as the head coach where the side clinched three out of their six victories. It also included Germany’s wins against France and the Netherlands in March.

This is a decision of the heart: Julian Nagelsmann on extending contract

Nagelsmann expressed his excitement and passion for the role and said that he decided this by listening to his heart. He stated, "This is a decision of the heart. It is a great honor to be able to train the national team and work with the best players in the country. "With successful, passionate performances we have the chance to inspire an entire country. The two wins against France and the Netherlands in March really touched me.”

He added, “We want to play a successful home European Championship together and I'm really looking forward to it together with my coaching team Challenge of a World Cup." German FA president Bernd Neuendorf said, “The national team is, for Julian Nagelsmann, it's more than just a job, it's a real matter close to his heart. Now there is planning security and everyone can concentrate entirely on a successful performance at the European Championships."
