The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the appointment of Ramesh Powar as the Head Coach of the Indian Women's Team.
The three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) unanimously agreed on Powar’s appointment. Notably, Powar previously had coached the Indian team but his contract was not renewed after ODI skipper Mithali Raj accused him of dropping her from the T20 World Cup Playing XI against England in 2018.
No contract extension for Woorkeri Raman
Despite taking the Indian Women's team to the T20 World Cup final in 2020, Woorkeri Raman's contract was not extended by BCCI. With the pandemic taking over the world by storm, the team didn't play another international match until their home series against South Africa that began on March 7 earlier this year, which the tourists won the ODIs 4-1, and the T20Is 2-1.
