Star South African pacer Kagiso Rabada achieved a new milestone in his career during the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. The right-arm fast bowlers took three wickets as the Proteas bowled Bangladesh out for 106 runs in the first innings on day 1. With this, Rabada also completed 300 wickets in the longest format of the game for South Africa.
Kagiso Rabada took 65 matches to reach the milestone of 300 wickets in Test cricket. However, in terms balls bowled, Rabada is now the fastest bowlers to take 300 Test wickets. The right-arm pacer achieved the milestone after bowling 11,817 deliveries in his Test career. Rabada is also the sixth wicket taker for South Africa in Test cricket with 302 scalps from 65 matches in his career so far.
Bangladesh give tough fight to South Africa after getting out on low score
Talking about the Test match, South Africa had a great start against Bangladesh on day 1 of the Mirpur Test. However, the hosts also gave a tough fight by the end of day 1. After opting to bat first, Bangladesh were bundled out for just 106 in 40.1 overs in the first innings. Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the top scorer for the hosts with 30 runs off 97 balls. For the Proteas, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, and Wiaan Mulder took 3-3 wickets each while Dane Piedt put 1 in his bag.
Coming to bat, South Africa also didn’t have great start as the visitors lost their skipper Aiden Markram ( 6 runs) at the score of 9. After that, Tony de Zorzi (30 off 72) Tristan Stubbs (23 off 27) and Ryan Rickleton (27 off 49) were among the top scorers as South Africa kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Tajmul Islam was a star with a five-wicket haul as South Africa day 1 at the score of 140/6 with a lead of 34 runs so far.
