After the completion of the T20I and ODI series, the Proteas Men will host the Men in Blue in a two-match Test series, starting December 26. While the first of the two-match series will be played at the SuperSport Park in Centurion from 26 to 30th December, the second will be played at the Newlands in Cape Town from 3-7 January 2024.

However, ahead of the commencement of the Test series, South Africa have been handed a blow as star pacer Kagiso Rabada, who was set to return after a break from the white-ball tour, now remains doubtful. The 28-year-old was scheduled to play for the Lions in the first-class match against the Dolphins at Kingsmead but missed it due to a bruised heel. As reported by Cricbuzz, the team management was asked on Rabada’s return where they reiterated stating, he “will undergo further assessments.”

The South Africa Test side will see the return of skipper Temba Bavuma after he decided to skip the white-ball series against ODI World Cup 2023 finalists. Notably, Bavuma will make his return after South Africa’s loss in the ODI World Cup 2023 semifinal, earlier last month.

South Africa’s squad for Test series against India:

Temba Bavuma (C), David Bedingham, Nandre Burger, Gerald Coetzee, Tony de Zorzi, Dean Elgar, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Keegan Petersen, Kagiso Rabada, Tristan Stubbs, Kyle Verreynne.
