Karnataka cricketer Hoysala YC shockingly passed away after he suffered a cardiac arrest on the field on Thursday, February 22, 2024. The 35-year-old was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors. The incident occurred during the Aegis South Zone tournament match between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Hoysala came into the fore when he donned the Karnataka cap in the under-25 category where he proved his mettle with the ball. After that, he represented Bellary Tuskers and Shivamogga Lions in the Karnataka Premier League.

After the match, he was going to dinner with his team-mates. Suddenly, he collapsed on the field before the medical team rushed to the Karnataka pacer to provide him with medical attention and CPR. At the time of treatment, he was responding but died en route to the hospital. His family was informed about the incident when he being taken to the hospital.

Several players have lost their lives this year

However, this is not the first instance this year that a cricketer has passed away due to cardiac arrest while playing cricket. Notably, on January 26 this year, a 20-year-old cricketer named Suhaib Yaseen died after he started his run-up to bowl.

Before that, 34-year-old cricketer Vikas Negi also collapsed on the field while batting for the Mavericks 11. He was returning to the striker's end after shaking hands with his non-striker partner Umesh Kumar when he collapsed in the middle leading to his death.
